Guidelines for Respect and Inclusiveness at IFPU Programs
The Institute for Fundamental Physics of the Universe (IFPU), upholds the principles of free circulation of scientists while fostering a culture of respect, inclusivity, and professionalism. To ensure a positive and collaborative environment for all participants, we have established the following code of conduct:
- Non-Discrimination: IFPU program organizers vehemently oppose discrimination based on factors such as ethnic origin, religion, nationality, disability, physical appearance, political stance, gender, or age.
- Commitment to Inclusivity: Program organizers are dedicated to creating a scientifically productive, collegial, inclusive, and enjoyable environment, free from discrimination, bullying, harassment, or retaliation.
- Professional Behavior: Participants are required to exhibit professional conduct, refraining from inappropriate actions, comments, or jokes based on individual characteristics protected by law.
- Zero Tolerance for Harassment: IFPU unequivocally prohibits all forms of harassment, encompassing inappropriate behavior, language, sustained disruption, unwelcome jokes or comments, inappropriate physical contact, sexual attention or innuendo, stalking, and the unauthorized dissemination of photographs or recordings without consent.
- Respectful Communication: All verbal and written communication should be suitable for a professional audience with diverse backgrounds. IFPU expects all program participants to be kind, treating each other with respect and consideration. Insults, repeated interruptions or derogatory comments are not tolerated.
- Research Integrity: A conduct of research integrity applies at all times, based on honesty, scrupulousness, transparency, independence (ensuring that the scientific process was not guided by non-scientific or scholarly considerations) and responsibility.
- Compliance: Members asked to stop any inappropriate behaviour are expected to comply immediately. Any attendee violating this code may be asked to leave the event at the sole discretion of the IFPU Council.
By adhering to these principles, we strive to create an atmosphere that promotes collaboration, mutual respect, and the exchange of knowledge, ensuring that all participants feel valued and supported in their scientific endeavors at IFPU programs.
