The Dynamics of Black Hole Mergers and Gravitational Wave Generation
IFPU
12 – 16 January 2026
This workshop focuses on the study of dynamical event horizons in black hole mergers and
its firm connection with gravitational-wave research. With ongoing advancements in
gravitational-wave detection, understanding black hole behavior during mergers has become
increasingly relevant. The event will bring together researchers to discuss both perturbative
and numerical approaches to studying these mergers, with an emphasis on the event
horizon as a defining feature of black hole spacetimes.
